After last week’s post “5 Easy Ways to Fight of Stress” I’d like to share with you more health related tips. By no means am I an expert in this area. So the tips are that of my own personal experience.

I recently read, unhealthy habits can further increase our stress levels! : 0

For most of us, when we’re unhappy or our anxiety is spiraling out of control, we turn to food and sometimes we don’t make the best decisions.

Feeling Tangled?

So here are three of my favourite “foods” that keep me sharp (I hope):

1) Blueberries –
These tasty little guys are the best detox fruit around. They are low in calories, fat-free and a great source of fibre … but overall, they’ve got a great rep for being high in Antixodiants and vitamin C.

The major benefit of Antioxidents are, they help rid our body of the free radicals that wear away at our memory.

Given I live in Antigua, blueberries are really hard to come by, but each visit to the UK, I stop at the Marks and Spencer in Gatwick and get my quick fix. Yum!

2) Choccy –
As GM Poppy commented – she eats chocolate to de-stress! And she is right. Chocolates are known to brighten your mood. I love dark chocolate in the range of 70% to 80%. Luckily in the UK, you’re not too far away from getting your hands on good chocolate.

3) Coffee -
I use to be a huge coffee drinker but as of late I’ve cut back and opted for decaffeinated coffee. Ooh do I miss my strong coffee though …

As you’ve probably heard, coffee boosts your energy levels, metabolism and makes your feel more alert.

A few months ago, I read an article on Times Online (can’t find the report anymore) that there was a recent study finding people who drink coffee with milk each day are less likely to suffer from depression. Now how much coffee and milk, I can’t recall. But I would say keep in moderation ; )

Here are some other recommended “foods” by experts that I’ve come across:

  1. Milk – good for your brain due to its amino acid called “tryptophan” and also a great antioxidant that helps destroy free radicals associated with stress.
  2. Whole-Grain Rice or Pasta – curb the low-carb diets, eating carbohydrates (in moderation) boosts serotonin level which is known to have a calming, soothing effect. Not all carbs are equal, so opt for whole grains that digest slowly.
  3. Fish – jam packed with omega-3-essential fatty acids, experts say people who eat fish frequently are 30% less likely to suffer from depression.

There you have it, a few food suggestions to keep you sharp. After all, as a responsible gaming company, it’s our responsibility to take care of our members well being : )

LET ME ASK YOU THIS: what are your favourite healthy foods?

It has been widely reported that Colin McRae, former world rally champion, has been killed in a helicopter accident.

Colin, 39, his son Johnny, 5, the youngster’s friend Ben Porcelli and family friend Graeme Duncan, were all named by police as being passengers in the helicopter which crashed on Saturday near the McRae family home.

Colin came from a family with great rally ties. His father Jimmy was five times British rally champion and his brother Alister is also a former British rally champion. In a motorsport career spanning 30 years, Colin achieved no fewer than 25 rally wins and was Britain’s first world rally champion – an achievement that earned him the MBE.

Despite his enormous success, Colin was always had time for his fans and was very down to earth. He leaves behind his wife Alison and daughter Hollie.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the McRae family at this tragic time.

Who Wins?Everyone knows that no funny business is part of our DNA. But not long ago, in one of the many hot discussions here on our blog, some members suggested that newbies seem to win more biggie prizes than regular members.

That got our attention, because we know that our software provider Parlay has the best bingo software out there. However, we got curious, and Shawn, one of our techies who understands things us ordinary folk don’t, ran an interesting report for us. Here are the results:

From March 2007 to Present:

Any funded member with account younger than 30 days won 64%.

Any funded member with account younger than 60 days won 62%

Any funded member with account younger than 90 days won 63%

Any member with account older than 90 days funded in past 3 months 72%

As you can tell, depending whether your definition of “newbie” is 30 days, 60 days, or younger than 90 days, based on our report, it’s fairly close. It seems our regular members have had the higher winning percent of 72%.

Our very own Olga, found this video on Youtube — it’s an ad for Dove and I believe it tells a wonderful story about our view on beauty today.

Let me ask you this: How do you feel about the image of beauty in our society today?

my mania updateWe had hoped to have launched the My Mania feature in September, but given last month’s trouble with our servers, we’re going to delay the launch a couple more weeks until we’re up and running on our new servers.

As you might have recalled, when we first posted on the My Mania concept, we asked for 10 individual members to help us test My Mania before it goes live. We promise it will be fun, and better yet…you’ll be rewarded for your feedback :)

So far 8 members have filled the spot and we’ve got 2 more vacancies. Please let us know if you are interested by leaving a comment below. Thank you.

My apologies for a late post this week – I had an unexpected trip this past weekend and just got back today. I promise moving forward, if I have to be away for a few days, I’ll schedule a guest blogger to fill in … how about it GMs, anyone up for it? : )

Turning our attention towards today’s blog, I’d like to share with you one of my favourite moments from the telly so far this year: “Britain’s Got Talent”.

There where many great performances in this past season on the TV series “Britain’s Got Talent”, which many of us saw. The one performance that blew me away was Paul Potts’ amazing act … if you haven’t seen it, you can view it below. It will be a well 3:36 minutes spent.
