We often get tickets or players in chat, asking why some people seem to win more often than others.
First of all, let me say that the mathematics of bingo probability is unbelievably complicated, so I’m going to keep this simple. It won’t be exact but it should be close enough for you to get the general idea.
Let’s take a look at the chances of winning:
In a game with 5 players, each holding 2 cards, there are 10 cards in play. Each player has a 20% chance of winning because he or she holds 20% of the cards that are in play. Next game, every player buys 6 cards each, so there are 30 cards in play. Each still has a 20% chance of winning (because 6 is 20% of 30).
Simple enough so far.
Now, if there are 5 players and one player has 6 cards, but the others only have 1 card each, there are only 10 cards in play. The player with 6 cards has a 60% chance of winning (6 is 60% of 10). The other players each have only a 10% chance of winning. If all 5 players buy the same number of cards for the next 10 games, statistically the player with 6 cards will win more often.
But that kind of buying pattern doesn’t happen very often, so let’s look at another, slightly more realistic, example:
Chocs, Midgey, Poppy, Snuggles and Womble decide to play 20 games of bingo.
Chocs and Midgey each buy 1 card per game, Poppy buys 5 and gets one free per game, and Snuggles and Womble each buy 10 and get two free per game. There are therefore 32 cards in play.
Chocs and Midgey have a 3.13% chance of winning each game.
Poppy has an 18.75% chance of winning each game.
Snuggles and Womble each have a 37.5% chance of winning each game.
Statistically speaking, over 20 games, Chocs and Midgey may not win at all. Poppy, Snuggles and Womble should all win. We would expect to see Snuggles and Womble winning the most games.
Because bingo isn’t as neat and tidy as that, what we actually see usually follows the pattern but it can vary slightly.
As I said earlier, the mathematics of bingo probability is unbelievably complicated and it depends on a whole stack of factors. But basically, although you can win with one card, you increase your chances of winning if you buy more than one.

This bank holiday weekend (22 - 25 August) why not avoid all the usual traffic jams and miserable weather, and enjoy a great weekend of treats here at BingoMania UK?
For starters, we will be giving double BBs on all chat games as follows:
• 6pm to 10pm on Friday in Twisted Taco
• 9am to 1am on Saturday in Madhouse
• 4pm to 12am on Sunday in The Pound
• 9am to 1am on Monday in Little Britain
For the main course, all chat games on Monday, in all of our rooms, will be numbers-based games only – no nabors games.
For dessert, on Monday, we’re offering you the chance to win some Cash! Our very own Skippy will be making some surprise visits to our chat rooms and playing ‘Cash Back’.
When Skippy announces ‘Cash Back’ in chat, the two players that win the next chat game will win back (in cash) every penny they’ve spent in that room on the previous three games that played.
Yes, cash, not BBs!
Remember – you have to be in it to win it.
Be lucky!
Our usual terms and conditions apply, namely:
To be eligible to win the prizes, players must be active members whose accounts are in good standing and who have made a deposit in the past 30 days. Employees of Helix Gaming and their immediate family are not eligible to enter. Once a player has won a prize they are not eligible for another. No alternative prizes will be offered.

Our deepest sympathies go to Gremlins and Mrsgrems on the tragic loss of their daughter, baby Leona, who sadly passed away in her grandmother’s arms on Monday, aged just 4 months.
Our words seem so indaequate, but the heartfelt thoughts and prayers of all of us here at BingoMania UK are with Jeff, Leanne and the family at this sad time.

Nominations will be made on the basis of ‘an outstanding contribution to chat’ for players who have demonstrated consistent friendliness, politeness, patience and community spirit. The nominations will then go before His Imperial Highness’s loyal advisors, who will consider all the nominees before finishing the champagne and truffles choosing one player to receive the prestigious OBME – the Order of the BingoMania Empire.
Our monthly OBME winner will be featured on the blog and the newsletter, and will be presented with £50 of BBs from the Ancient and Honourable Bearer of the Imperial Sack. They will also be entitled to use the letters OBME after their name in chat and on the blog.

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the loss of one of our favourite Maniacs – DAME CRACKER.

Cracker, real name Carol, joined BingoMania in February 2007 and quickly became loved by all the roomies and GMs. She joined in with the community and had a great sense of fun. She was always quick with a kind word when someone needed lifted, even when she recently found out that she had cancer and that it was untreatable. In her inimitable style, instead of retreating into herself she continued to join in the fun and spirit of BingoMania.
Sadly, Carol lost the fight against cancer in the early hours of Thursday, 8th May.
The heartfelt thoughts and prayers of all at BingoMania are with the family at this difficult time.

Shhhh… don’t tell Stuart, but we’re making the progressive jackpot in Little Britain easier to win, starting from May 1st. Every day, twice a day at 9am and 5pm, we’ll be increasing the number of calls within which you can win the progressive by one number until the jackpot is won. But the lunacy doesn’t end there – oh no.
After that, we’ll be sticking two ponies (that’s fifty pounds if you’re from north of the Watford Gap) into the progressive jackpot to start it off and as usual we’ll throw our spare change in every game. The number of calls you get to win it will stay at a win-tastic level, so that more of you get the chance to walk away with the wonga. In fact – we want to see it go two or even three times a day.
Yup – you read it right. We want to see you win it two or three times a day. We want to shake your hand, dance on the tables, break open the bubbly and help you celebrate. But we need our beauty sleep (some of us more than others, mentioning no names) and we go to bed at 1am.
So at 1am every morning, we’re going to take the jackpot and tuck it under Stuart’s mattress so that he doesn’t notice it’s missing. At 9am, we’ll shake off the fluff and bits of corn flakes and put it back, crisp and shiny and ready for a new winner.
We think you’ll enjoy being able to win it more often – after all – who doesn’t want a jackpot win?
You’re looking for the catch, aren’t you? Well if you find it let us know - because we don’t have a magnifying glass strong enough.
Be lucky

Hi All,
We were swamped with entries for the Easter Competition this year and I hope you all enjoyed taking part.
At 8pm tonight, the winners will be chosen in Little Britain by Betty.
The way Betty will decide the winners is as follows:
Every correct entry has been allocated a number from 7-85(excluding 13), and these are listed below. The last number called in the first game AFTER 8pm determines the winner of the first £50 prize.
For example:If Poppy had number 6 and the game was won on number 6, Poppy would win a prize. Of course Poppy isn’t allowed to enter (cos shes nawty and we don’t have a number 6 in the draw anyway) but you get the idea.
If the winning number of the first game is not one of the numbers posted below then it moves to the second game to determine the winner. The process is repeated until all 3 £50 prizes have been awarded.
Good Luck All

With Easter just around the corner, we decided to organize a good ol’e traditional Easter egg hunt here at BingoMania! Since we couldn’t have everybody fly down here and scurry around the BingoMania headquarters for eggs, we decided to go with an online version instead. Here’s how it works… we made up the puzzliest puzzles we possibly could, the answers to which are hidden somewhere on the BingoMania UK website, or right here on the ManiaStu blog. For each puzzle that you solve, you get an Easter egg in your basket. If you can collect all 10 eggs, e-mail your answers along with your username to easter@bingomania.co.uk and get entered into our wacky Easterly draw to win one of three £50 cash prizes. If you think you have what it takes to be BingoMania’s top egg hunter, click here to begin.
Happy Hunting!
