“Oh the times they are a’changin’”

A few people have told us that they miss out on Second Chance room because it opens so early. So to give you all a chance to get in, eat your tea and watch Emmerdale, we’re moving Second Chance to 8pm til 10pm, starting next Tuesday 23rd September.

Just to remind you, the qualifying week for Second Chance runs from 00:00 hours on a Monday to 23:59 hours on a Sunday. If, during that week, you deposit and wager £10 but win less than £30, you qualify for the Second Chance room the following Tuesday and should get an invitation in your email by Monday teatime.

If you win more than £30 during the week, in any room or on any game on the site, including slots, then you don’t qualify for Second Chance.

Be lucky all.

Chelsystar struck lucky on Tuesday, 9th September, when she scooped up the highest ever slots jackpot win on BingoMania.co.uk.

Chelsystar, whose real name is Kelly, won a fantastic £17, 894.78 on the ‘Bring Home The Bacon’ slots. Her win puts her firmly at the top of the BingoMania UK Hall of Fame, closely followed by Janny08 and Mitchmente - the site’s two biggest bingo jackpot winners.

Speaking of her win, Kelly, who is aged 26 and from Walthamcross, said

“Thank you very much for my win. I was so shocked - never in the world did I expect that. I can’t explain how good it felt. The wee little piggies are the best. I have a little girl and one on the way and I will spend some of the money towards a deposit for a house and pay off some bills. Thank you again.”

BingoMania’s CEO and founder, Stuart Gordon, said

“Once again we’ve shown that for a relatively small site, our members can win big prizes with BingoMania UK - and not just on bingo. Our variety of games offers everyone the chance to win big, whatever their preference. We’re all very pleased for Kelly and I’m sure she will enjoy her winnings.”

I’m sure you will join us in giving our warmest congratulations to Kelly, aka Chelsystar.

We often get tickets or players in chat, asking why some people seem to win more often than others.

Bingo FormulaFirst of all, let me say that the mathematics of bingo probability is unbelievably complicated, so I’m going to keep this simple. It won’t be exact but it should be close enough for you to get the general idea.

Let’s take a look at the chances of winning:

In a game with 5 players, each holding 2 cards, there are 10 cards in play. Each player has a 20% chance of winning because he or she holds 20% of the cards that are in play. Next game, every player buys 6 cards each, so there are 30 cards in play. Each still has a 20% chance of winning (because 6 is 20% of 30).

Simple enough so far.

Now, if there are 5 players and one player has 6 cards, but the others only have 1 card each, there are only 10 cards in play. The player with 6 cards has a 60% chance of winning (6 is 60% of 10). The other players each have only a 10% chance of winning. If all 5 players buy the same number of cards for the next 10 games, statistically the player with 6 cards will win more often.

But that kind of buying pattern doesn’t happen very often, so let’s look at another, slightly more realistic, example:

Chocs, Midgey, Poppy, Snuggles and Womble decide to play 20 games of bingo.
Chocs and Midgey each buy 1 card per game, Poppy buys 5 and gets one free per game, and Snuggles and Womble each buy 10 and get two free per game. There are therefore 32 cards in play.
Chocs and Midgey have a 3.13% chance of winning each game.
Poppy has an 18.75% chance of winning each game.
Snuggles and Womble each have a 37.5% chance of winning each game.

Statistically speaking, over 20 games, Chocs and Midgey may not win at all. Poppy, Snuggles and Womble should all win. We would expect to see Snuggles and Womble winning the most games.

Because bingo isn’t as neat and tidy as that, what we actually see usually follows the pattern but it can vary slightly.

As I said earlier, the mathematics of bingo probability is unbelievably complicated and it depends on a whole stack of factors. But basically, although you can win with one card, you increase your chances of winning if you buy more than one.

Be lucky!

This bank holiday weekend (22  - 25 August) why not avoid all the usual traffic jams and miserable weather, and enjoy a great weekend of treats here at BingoMania UK?

For starters, we will be giving double BBs on all chat games as follows:
• 6pm to 10pm on Friday in Twisted Taco
• 9am to 1am on Saturday in Madhouse
• 4pm to 12am on Sunday in The Pound
• 9am to 1am on Monday in Little Britain

For the main course, all chat games on Monday, in all of our rooms, will be numbers-based games only – no nabors games.

For dessert, on Monday, we’re offering you the chance to win some Cash! Our very own Skippy will be making some surprise visits to our chat rooms and playing ‘Cash Back’.

When Skippy announces ‘Cash Back’ in chat, the two players that win the next chat game will win back (in cash) every penny they’ve spent in that room on the previous three games that played.
Yes, cash, not BBs!

Remember – you have to be in it to win it.

Be lucky!

Our usual terms and conditions apply, namely:
To be eligible to win the prizes, players must be active members whose accounts are in good standing and who have made a deposit in the past 30 days. Employees of Helix Gaming and their immediate family are not eligible to enter. Once a player has won a prize they are not eligible for another. No alternative prizes will be offered.

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the loss of one of our favourite Maniacs – DAME CRACKER.

Dame Cracker

Cracker, real name Carol, joined BingoMania in February 2007 and quickly became loved by all the roomies and GMs. She joined in with the community and had a great sense of fun. She was always quick with a kind word when someone needed lifted, even when she recently found out that she had cancer and that it was untreatable. In her inimitable style, instead of retreating into herself she continued to join in the fun and spirit of BingoMania.

Sadly, Carol lost the fight against cancer in the early hours of Thursday, 8th May.

The heartfelt thoughts and prayers of all at BingoMania are with the family at this difficult time.

Shhhh… don’t tell Stuart, but we’re making the progressive jackpot in Little Britain easier to win, starting from May 1st. Every day, twice a day at 9am and 5pm, we’ll be increasing the number of calls within which you can win the progressive by one number until the jackpot is won. But the lunacy doesn’t end there – oh no.

After that, we’ll be sticking two ponies (that’s fifty pounds if you’re from north of the Watford Gap) into the progressive jackpot to start it off and as usual we’ll throw our spare change in every game. The number of calls you get to win it will stay at a win-tastic level, so that more of you get the chance to walk away with the wonga. In fact – we want to see it go two or even three times a day.

Yup – you read it right. We want to see you win it two or three times a day. We want to shake your hand, dance on the tables, break open the bubbly and help you celebrate. But we need our beauty sleep (some of us more than others, mentioning no names) and we go to bed at 1am.

So at 1am every morning, we’re going to take the jackpot and tuck it under Stuart’s mattress so that he doesn’t notice it’s missing. At 9am, we’ll shake off the fluff and bits of corn flakes and put it back, crisp and shiny and ready for a new winner.

We think you’ll enjoy being able to win it more often – after all – who doesn’t want a jackpot win?

You’re looking for the catch, aren’t you? Well if you find it let us know - because we don’t have a magnifying glass strong enough.

Be lucky
